Vespa Smallframe and Ape 50 primary drive conical gear

The new gears are equipped with a self-locking cone able to permanently couple the drive shaft and pinion.

With this system, the key must not be used. Ideal for elaborate engines and damaged motor shafts on the keyway.

The cone is compatible with the entire range of Piaggio crankshafts and interchangeable. It is advisable to apply strong type blocking on the fixing nut and to respect the tightening torque 60-70 Nm.

For the pinion extraction there are n. 3 threaded holes.
The extractor (supplied separately) must be screwed as in the following images.
The reduced part of the plate is used to keep the tool locked with a wrench no. 19.
In the middle there is a hexagonal head screw which is screwed with a wrench n. 13.
For extraction it may be necessary to overheat the pinion with a workshop-type dryer.

The thickness of the tooth has been reinforced (width increased 0.80 mm) over its entire profile.

Before using the wasp, check that there is maximum smoothness between the pinion and the crown. There must be a minimum clearance of 0.20 mm between the 2 toothed wheels.
