Description

Back in 2006 the 'RacingBros' company was founded, initially producing and supplying hydro-pneumatic shock absorber systems for high-end mountain bikes. They have since extended their range of products to include freshly conceived conventionally-sprung shock absorbers for motorbikes and scooters. This experience led to them adapting their existing 'Air Spring' technology to also suit motorised two-wheelers. The 'Bazooka' shock absorbers are the result.
At first glance it is obvious why these chunky suspension units earned their title, with a 32mm diameter damper rod coupled to a 47mm diameter damper body. These extreme dimensions also provide a noticeably stiffer operation and make them more immune to twisting during use. The lower overall weight provides less unsprung mass in the suspension assembly. They have a relatively unobtrusive appearance compared to most aftermarket shock absorber systems and save 60% in total weight when replacing the original items. This huge reduction is mostly due to the lack of a coil spring in their construction. The pre-load has a continuous adjustment, similar to some coil spring types, only here a separately available, dedicated pump is available to govern the amount of air pressure within the damper body. Due to the hard-anodised surface finishing of the AL6061-T6 grade aluminium alloy used in their construction the friction is reduced and they are extremely tough.
