Description

Kit of 2 Smallframe reinforced gear selector pads MD racing.

Made of high resistance steel and relative carburizing treatment.

In this way there is a tenacious and resistant body with a hard anti-wear surface.

Not to be confused with hardened which also has a hard surface but the characteristic temperature range of hardening could make the stem brittle

and crack under stress. Carburizing is a thermochemical hardening treatment characteristic of gears, and does not alter the internal properties of the metal.

The MD racing pad, being designed to repair old preselectors, has a rod of 4.00 mm -0 +0.03 cents, in order to compensate for the enlargement of the hole on the piaggio fork, decrease the lateral play, improve the seal in position of the preselector and cancel shift cable play.

Another important change compared to the original skate is the increase in the height of the hoof which from the original 4.90mm has been brought to 5.5mm

for a greater gripping surface on the spider and less wear over time.

Precautions for the installer:

Once the old pads have been removed, try inserting the new ones, checking if there is not too much friction in the smoothness of the rotation.

It may happen that the seats of the holes for the preselector slides are oval and the diameter of the hole needs to be corrected.

If you encounter these problems:

The Skate enters but jams in the complete rotation.

Solution: continue to rotate the sliding block by hand without lubrication to make the rod adapt and correct the hole as the hardness of the rod is greater than that of the preselector.

The shoe does not enter the hole in the preselector.

Resolution: pass the hole in the preselector with a 4mm iron tip to restore the correct diameter.

The skate enters but rotates very hard.

Resolution: Sand the shoe stem by hand with 180 to 240 grit sandpaper and test each time until the shoe spins free in the preselector.

It is understood that whoever has technical equipment such as expansion reamers will also be able to adopt the procedure which seems most suitable for the assembly and calibration of the shoes in the preselector.
