The reed valve assembly is installed underneath the SI carburettor box and replaces the original crankshaft-controlled rotary valve intake with a reed-controlled intake system.

This makes it possible to continue using an engine casing even when the rotary valve sealing surface is damaged, avoiding more complicated repairs such as welding, machining or complete replacement of the engine casing.

One of the main advantages is that the original-style Dell'Orto/Spaco SI carburettor can be retained, maintaining a compact installation and an appearance close to the original setup.
