The BGM PRO ignition set made of high quality components for a quick conversion of the Vespa to a maintenance-free, bright and reliable ignition/alternator unit.
This set is for the Vespa PK XL, PK ETS, PK HP series (fits with appropriate crankshaft also on V50,50N, PV, ET3 etc., see also article BGM666PV20).

Alternator and voltage regulator
The BGM PRO set uses a modern electrical system with voltage regulator. The alternator has a modified coil wiring and produces a high voltage already at low revs. As a result, a bright stable light is already present at idle. At high revs, the voltage regulator automatically regulates to a stable and gentle 12-13 volts. This also offers the possibility to charge a battery and/or support a USB charging socket for mobile phone, navi, etc.
Ignition
The BGM Pro ignition is based on the millionfold proven CDI technology as used by Piaggio from the 1980's on. The ignition pulse is triggered contactless by a so-called pick-up signal. The high ignition current, even at low engine speeds, ensures perfect starting performance under all conditions. The contactless ignition triggering is stable well into the five-digit speed range.
Pole wheel
The pole wheels are matched to the respective application by their weight:
At 1600 grams, the smallframe models are perfectly suited to the lively characteristics of the small engines.
The Largeframemotors offer with 2300 grams a wonderful mixture of a lot of running culture and very good acceleration.
They are finely balanced, offer a fantastic concentricity as well as a high ignition timing accuracy and a very good magneto.
Due to the smaller circumference and optimized wing surfaces, the engine hangs on the throttle very well and has better acceleration and slightly more power.
Conversion
This set is ideally suited as a replacement, e.g. to renew a defective ignition of a PK XL/ETS model or to have a complete new and high-quality base at hand when rebuilding an engine. Further the set is also very interesting for the conversion of the predecessor models like V50, PV, ET3 etc.. These still have a weakly dimensioned crankshaft with a small cone. The Vespa PK models got with the introduction of the sporty ETS models and the following XL models a stronger dimensioned crankshaft. This has a larger alternator cone, recognizable at the M12 thread of the pole wheel nut as well as the shaft sealing ring with 20x32x7mm (PK XL) or 24x35x7mm (PK ETS). The stronger dimensioned stump is useful for tuning with 125cc and more on the V50/PV/ET3 models (the stump can't break off anymore). To install a crankshaft of the PK models in the older V50/PV/ET3 models you also need the pole wheel of the PK models. This set offers the basis to raise an old engine mechanically as well as electronically to a contemporary level. If you also need a voltage regulator and a holder for the CDI you should have a look at the set BGM666PV20.
